The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons Organizes an Intensive Training Programme in Minya

The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons concluded the intensive training programme organized in Minya Governorate from 19 to 21 January, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons and the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The programme aimed to train more than 30 Social Women Leaders from various centers and cities across the governorate, and it was opened by H.E. Ambassador Dina El Sehy, Executive Director of the Fund.

The training programme aimed to introduce the National Coordinating Committee, as well as the mandates and functions of the Fund, while raising awareness of trafficking in persons through a simplified explanation of its various forms. It also sought to build the capacities of the participating Social Women Leaders to implement effective awareness campaigns, strengthen their role in preventing trafficking in persons, and protect the community from its risks.

The training programme also addressed the legal framework governing efforts to combat trafficking in persons, as well as psychological and behavioral prevention measures for families against trafficking in persons. Participants were introduced to practical tools to help protect families from the risks of these crimes, in addition to ways in which the participating Social Women Leaders can use the content of the training workshop to raise awareness among families during their field visits.

At the conclusion of the programme, H.E. Ambassador Dina El Sehy and Mr. Abdel Hamid El Tahawy, Director of the Directorate of Social Solidarity, distributed certificates of completion of the training programme to the Social Women Leaders.

These training programmes are part of the Fund’s plan to expand awareness-raising activities across the governorates and support community leaders in addressing trafficking in persons.
