The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, its strategic partner, launches the first activities of the “Step to Safety” initiative from Alexandria Governorate on Saturday, 15 August 2026, to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The initiative will feature a community mini-marathon starting at 7:00 a.m. from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina plaza, in addition to a range of interactive activities, games, community experiences, and cultural events, with the participation of youth, families, students, athletes, and volunteers, as well as a number of government entities and partners.
The “Step to Safety” initiative embodies the Fund’s vision of adopting innovative approaches to communicating with the community, building on its national role in supporting efforts to prevent trafficking in persons by utilizing sports, volunteer work, and community activities to enhance knowledge of the risks of trafficking in persons, raise awareness of protection and reporting mechanisms and the services provided by the Fund to victims, thereby contributing to promoting the values of human dignity and social responsibility.
Alexandria Governorate is the first stop of the initiative, which will subsequently be implemented in a number of governorates across the country, as part of a vision aimed at expanding the scope of community participation and strengthening national partnerships to support the State’s efforts to prevent trafficking in persons.
The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons invites all segments of society to participate in the event, enjoy a day combining sports, interactive activities, and community experiences, and contribute to launching the first stop of the “Step to Safety” initiative.
