H.E. Ambassador Dina El Sehy, Executive Director of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons, continued the tour of Damietta Governorate on its second day by visiting the Damietta branch of the National Council for Women, as part of efforts to strengthen communication with entities and institutions concerned with protection, awareness-raising, and prevention of human trafficking crimes.
During the visit, H.E. Ambassador Dina El Sehy met with Dr. Marwa Nabil, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women’s Damietta Branch, Ms. Amal Abdel Galil, Deputy Rapporteur of the branch, along with several Council members. The meeting included discussions on several issues related to efforts to raise awareness of the risks of human trafficking, with a focus on crimes that may particularly target women.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons and the Council’s branch, contributing to awareness-raising efforts, enhancing community awareness of ways to prevent human trafficking crimes, and raising awareness of the risks and patterns of exploitation that women may be exposed to. Thereby enhancing their ability to identify and address forms of exploitation and seek assistance.
The meeting highlighted the importance of integrating the roles of relevant entities and expanding cooperation in the areas of awareness-raising and prevention, supporting the protection system for groups most vulnerable to exploitation, and strengthening national efforts aimed at combating human trafficking crimes.
