Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) Concludes Intensive Training Workshop for Social Women Leaders in Dakahlia Governorate

The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT), affiliated with the Cabinet of Ministers, concluded today, 11 February 2026, an intensive training workshop implemented to strengthen the capacities of Social Women Leaders in Dakahlia Governorate. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

Held on 10 and 11 February 2026, the workshop brought together more than 31 Social Women Leaders from various districts across Dakahlia Governorate, with the attendance and participation of representatives from the implementing national entities, as part of ongoing coordination to unify community awareness efforts nationwide.

The workshop was designed to equip Social Women Leaders with the legal knowledge and practical field skills needed to identify trafficking in persons crimes in their various forms. It also focused on presenting the national framework for combating the crime by introducing the mandates of both the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TIP) and the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT), in addition to training participants on secure reporting mechanisms through national hotlines and the competent authorities.

The workshop extended beyond theoretical learning to include practical sessions and intensive training exercises specifically designed to enable Social Women Leaders to develop simple yet effective awareness messages tailored to Egyptian families in different communities. These sessions aimed to transform their monthly field visits into meaningful opportunities to raise awareness and strengthen prevention efforts against the risks of trafficking in persons.

The workshop forms part of the strategy of the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons (FAVOT) and its partners to expand the reach of community awareness campaigns by empowering Social Women Leaders as the direct link to families in villages, districts, and hamlets. Training them represents a national investment in building a first line of defence capable of identifying early indicators of trafficking in persons and guiding families towards protection and secure reporting mechanisms.
