The Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons organized an intensive training programme for Imams and Female Religious Preachers in Beni Suef Governorate entitled “The Role of Religious Leaders in Combating Human Trafficking and Raising Community Awareness.” The first session of the programme was launched, targeting 28 Imams and Female Religious Preachers at the Beni Suef Endowments-Awqaf Directorate, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons and the Ministry of Endowments-Awqaf, in the presence of Honorable Sheikh Dr. Saeed Hamed Mabrouk, Undersecretary of the Beni Suef Endowments-Awqaf Directorate.
The programme aims to raise awareness of human trafficking crimes and its various forms, while enhancing concepts of protection and prevention. This is achieved through training religious cadres capable of disseminating awareness messages to all segments of society, particularly those most vulnerable to trafficking, through religious outreach activities and sermons in mosques, in accordance with sound religious teachings and national legislation.
This programme is part of a series of similar training programmes organized by the Fund for Assisting Victims of Trafficking in Persons for Imams and Female Religious Preachers, in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons and the Ministry of Endowments-Awqaf, from December to February in the governorates of Fayoum, Damietta, Alexandria, Dakahlia, and Port Said.
